We are seeking a skilled Textiles Designer to join and grow our team. This role will involve creating unique and eye-catching artwork that complements Gorman's aesthetic, using both hand-drawn and digital techniques. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of repeat and yardage prints, as well as garment printing techniques, inks, and finishes. This expertise will be essential in delivering high-quality, innovative textile designs. This full-time position offers 38 hours per week and is based at our vibrant Head Office in Abbotsford, where you can collaborate closely with your team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating original artwork using digital, painted and hand-drawn techniques for placement, yardage and border prints 

  • Repeat and yardage print competence.

  • Understanding of garment printing techniques/inks/finishes

  • Strike off approvals and comments to suppliers

  • Preparation of print specs and scales for the supplier. 

  • Preparing artwork for production and screenprinting. 

  • An excellent creative drive so concepts can be put forth and materialised

  • Working with designers & textile team to follow print briefs & feedback.

  • An understanding of the importance of other artists' intellectual property & the ability to create unique artwork with a distinct point of difference to inspiration/briefs.

  • Contribute to print concept research, trend forecasting and creation of print mood boards.

  • Working to a seasonal timeline and critical path. 

Technical Skills:

  • High attention to detail 

  • Highly creative and innovative design skills 

  • Enjoys collaborating within a team

  • Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills

  • Self-motivated and hardworking 

  • Able to effectively manage and meet tight deadlines 

  • Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and computer-aided drawing 

  • Undergraduate, tertiary or equivalent degree in Textile Design 

  • 1-2 years of industry experience

  • Rights to work in Australia.
